RECAP: Intro Nashville August Program Session
For anyone looking to become more engaged in the community, learn what makes the region unique, and grow your network, Intro Nashville was the program to be a part of this month! Aimed at both newcomers and native Nashvillians to gain a behind-the-scenes look into our region, the Chamber’s Intro Nashville program included a treasure trove of information for residents of Middle Tennessee.
Former Nashville Mayor, Bill Purcell, kicked off the program earlier this month at an opening reception hosted by AllianceBernstein in Downtown Nashville. While looking out at the Nashville skyline with the program participants, Mayor Purcell highlighted pivotal moments in Nashville’s history as he pointed out the various landmarks that make our city special.
The opening reception was followed by three half days of programming that touched on all the unique characteristics of our region. The first day, titled “It” City?, explored our local economy by featuring leaders from a variety of key industries. Such industries included: music and entertainment, hospitality and tourism, real estate and development, and the healthcare and finance industries.
The second day, titled Athens of the South, started at Warner Arts Magnet Elementary talking about our region’s education continuum and workforce. This was followed by a stop at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office to discuss state, regional, and metro government with local elected officials.
The program concluded back downtown with day four, Find Your Rhythm in Music City. The participants met at Spark: Lipscomb's Idea Center to discuss our local culinary scene and community involvement. The day closed after a quick walk to the National Museum of African American Music to learn more about our region’s cultural diversity and sports landscape.
Registration is currently open for the program sessions in October and December. Participant acceptance is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
