June 2022 Session: Featured Storytellers

The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Intro Nashville session in June featuring a variety of topics, community leaders and unique venues.

In this multi-day, immersive program, Intro Nashville participants establish new friendships, new ideas, new networks and new perspectives from a diverse group of people within our growing community. Intro Nashville was born to help individuals and teams make their dreams a reality.

Opening Reception: Featuring former Mayor David Briley. Mayor Briley will discuss pivotal moments in Nashville's history and the unique characteristics of the region.

Day 2: “It” City?: This day will focus on illustrating how Nashville was built on innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship by highlighting our region’s key industries. Featured storytellers included:

  • Moderator: Ron Samuels, Pinnacle Financial Partners

  • Hospitality & Tourism Industry: Commissioner Mark Ezell, Tennessee Department of Tourist Development

  • Music & Entertainment Industry: Mary Ann McCready, FBMM Entertainment Business Management

  • Healthcare Industry: Jamie Lee, Nashville Healthcare Council

  • Finance Industry: David Briggs, Fifth Third Bank

Day 3: Athens of the South This day explores the role of consolidated government and discussed big policy decisions that shaped our region. It also highlights the breadth of educational options in the region, illustrated the importance of deep prosperity and explained the talent pipeline in Middle Tennessee. Featured storytellers included:

  • PreK-12th Grade & Higher Edu Moderator: Dr. Sharon Gentry, Metropolitan Nashville Board of Public Education

  • PreK - 12 Education: Christiane Buggs, Metro Nashville Public Schools Board of Education

  • Workforce Development & Finding Talent Moderator: Jeff Haithcoat, Vaco

  • Finding Talent: Dennis Waggoner, BGSF

  • Workforce Development: Commissioner Jeff McCord, TN Department of Labor & Workforce Development

  • Public Service & Safety Moderator: Tom Turner, Nashville Downtown Partnership

  • Public Service & Safety: Director Chief William Swann, Nashville Fire Department

  • Regional Government: Mayor Paige Brown, City of Gallatin

  • Metro Government: Jim Hawk, Neighbor 2 Neighbor

Day 4: Find Your Rhythm in Music City: This day highlights Nashville’s creative spirit and cultural assets, and instills a commitment to community engagement. Featured storytellers included:

  • Moderator: Gary Gaston, Civic Design Center

  • Culinary & Arts: Andy Marshall, A. Marshall Hospitality

  • Cultural Diversity: Henry Hicks, National Museum of African American Music

  • Volunteering & Community Involvement: Lori Shinton, Hands On Nashville

  • Sports: Monica Fawknotson, Metro Nashville Sports Authority
